The hinterland of Noli, Spotorno and Bergeggi is very stimulating. Back Bergeggi the landscape changes completely and a small road leads to Vado Ligure on the Liguria Coast: wonderful hills and mountains, like Monte Mao, ideal for paragliding and hang-gliding.
The hills around Spotorno are covered by a thick pine wood and everywhere are the typical Liguria ground divisions “le terrazze” with olive trees and grape vines.
From here is possible to climb up the plain of Mànie, a not very extended area characterized by a very different environment respect to surrounding.
The peculiarity of the zone is physical and geological, because there are several Carso phenomenons with suggestive caves like the Arma delle Mànie, where lived the prehistoric man.
Flora and fauna reflect this diversity: the campanula of Savona, the Tyrrhenian cornflower and the dandelion of Finale Ligure live only here.
By these plants, there are real living fossils both for vegetable (malvone, branco, viluppio of Capo di Noli) and animal kingdoma, especially in the caves: insects, reptiles, shellfishes and molluscs species unchanged from thousand of years, creating a Jurassik Park atmosphere.
The Manie are perfect for horse trekking too, in every period of the year, thanks to a mild climate that has strongly contributed to the tourist success of the area. |
